Activities

White Water Rafting - Experience the thrills and spills of West Virginia whitewater rafting trips near Harpers Ferry on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers with BTI Whitewater/Butts Tubes. Want to look the river straight in the eye? Stimulate your senses with a classic whitewater rafting adventure that combines whitewater skills and thrills with a landscape rich in history, heritage, and wildlife. Paddle two rivers as you brave Class I-III (beginner/intermediate) rapids on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers.

Tubing - Put your butt in one of our tubes and let the river decide your pace! Float the water in an inner tube. The most personal contact you can have with the river. Our most popular river activity, tubing is the perfect way to soak up the sun, laugh with your family and friends, and cool off on a hot, summer day. We provide the tube, life jacket, and shuttle to and from the river. The river provides the fun! Bring a cooler or rent one from us and share a picnic on the water. We also have a limited number of floating coolers available for rent. Reserve your cooler tube in advance! Your tube ticket is valid all day and allows you to run as many tube trips as you want within our scheduled hours of operation.

Kayaking - Recreational Kayaking! Enjoy a get-in-and-go hard boat kayaking experience on the scenic flat-water of the Potomac River. Each of our Old Town kayaks comes with a comfort flex adjustable, padded seat and cup holder that allows you to have a stable and comfortable ride. Experience the freedom and independence of paddling at your own pace. BTI provides the boat, paddle, life vest, and shuttles to and from the river. The half day experience takes about 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours. Want more relaxing time in the great outdoors? Reserve a full day trip that will let you go with the flow with 8 hours of paddling peace. Our kayaks are suitable for ages 12 and up. All kayakers must know how to swim.

Canoeing - Not interested in the rapids and thrills of whitewater? Experience the river like Lewis & Clark in a timeless tradition of American transportation-the canoe. Paddling a canoe offers a more intimate excursion on the Potomac River and allows you to travel at your own pace. Experience the unique heritage of this region from the view of a canoe. There's plenty to see and explore, so bring your binoculars. With the C&O Canal towpath meandering on the left shoreline, keep your eyes open for osprey, bald eagles, great blue herons, and turtles. Discover the ecology of the many small islands in the Potomac with the Blue Ridge Mountains as your backdrop. Enjoy the peace only a fishing pole can provide as you attempt to reel in a smallmouth bass on a quiet, calm stretch of water. Whether you have all day to relax on the water or just a few hours, a canoe trip lets you personalize your time on the river. Canoe trips are available only on weekdays.

Guided Fishing - New for 2010, BTI Whitewater is offering guided fishing trips on the Potomac River. Enjoy the peaceful scenery, and the excitement of the catch with either a half or full day of fishing. Expert guides will show you the secrets of Potomac River fishing from the comfort of a custom fishing raft.
