History: With nine holes opening in 1962, "The Legend" of Sleepy Hollow started. Built on
farmland that was originally purchased in the 1940's by Dr. Marshall "Little Sleepy" Glenn,
"The Hollow" was born. In 1972 the second nine was opened with "Little Sleepy" actively
guiding the design as well as the construction. Today the course is solely owned by his five
children and their families. Built with the natural terrain in mind, little dirt was moved
during the construction of Sleepy Hollow. With only 30 traps, two ponds, and one small creek
ambling through its boundaries, the course looks invitingly simple. Don't be fooled! With its
deceptive length (nearly 7,000 from the blues), and small but well-kept greens (mowed by hand
six times/week), Sleepy Hollow will challenge even the best golfer. Four different sets of tees
will let the golfer "choose the challenge".
SkyCaddie: For golfers who are members of SkyCaddie, Sleepy Hollow has been mapped by SkyCaddie
professionals and has been given a 4-Star SkyCaddie rating. Visit
www.skygolf.com for more information.
Refreshments: Whether you are alone or have a group of 100+, let the experienced staff at "The
Hollow" make your visit a pleasant one with sandwiches and drinks from our grill. If you have
a group of 20 or more, you can ask for a picnic buffet of favorites selected from our menu and
served when you finish your round of golf. If you enjoy golf and good food served with lots of
fun, come see us at "The Hollow". Call in advance to schedule outings and picnics.
Nearby Attractions: The course is set in the majestic Blue Ridge foothills between historic Harpers
Ferry and Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. Plenty of entertainment for the entire family is within a
10-minute drive.
